I'd miss them.
A lot of really excellent games wouldn't be as awesome without them; Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Metroid Prime 3, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor...
They allow a kind of connection to your character that traditional controls can't accomplish, as well as superior aiming compared to dual analogue.
