I never played OoEHMl1 and I don't play bullet hell/curtain shooters.

It's.... harder than Ninja Gaiden Black on Master Ninja, though.

Odd, I thought you had at least attempted OoEHMl1. I see the comparison point with NGB though.

Very Hard in the original and Master Ninja in Black had some serious bullshit moments, though, like exploding bats popping out of a chest. No real way to avoid that and nothing like that happens in lower difficulties. At that point it's no longer a fair challenge.

A better comparison would probably be God Hand on Hard, which is harder than Vanquish on Hard. Now, Vanquish on God Hard, on the other hand, or Challenge 6...

What don't you like about Vanquish's kind of gameplay?

Well, the experience I had with Vanquish was from both the demo and playing it for one hour at a GAME store. It felt like a TPS meets Bayonetta, but falling somewhere down in the middle of both genres without a clear definition of what it is. Sure it's fast paced and reflex hungry, but the mechanics (and aesthetics) aren't my cup of tea.
