True, but most of the people that believe the 10 year thing also believe that means Sony won't release a new console until 2016, not that there will continue to be new release on the PS3 until 2016.

(though I agree it's a pretty silly difference, I just get annoyed with the people rejoicing the 10 year thing and then the same people rejoicing a new console as soon as possible)

No, just no. Everybody (and I mean everybody) believed from the start that the 10 years plan just means 10 years of active support like the ps2 got and not a sudden death like the xbox had. Everybody said that a playstation console will never end like the first xbox and that was pretty clear since the ps2 was still supported at ps3 launch (you should also remember some old joke: "the ps2 sells more than the ps3").

I'm not sure why you're trying to explain the 10 year plan to me, I know what it is...It's like you read posts but then don't really retain anything said in them.  Feel free to browse around to forums when the 10 year plan was introduced or any time it's mentioned really, you'll see plenty of people getting it wrong.

I see the defensive blockade is in full force in this thread. Don't worry Twesterm, I remember very distinctly the hordes of Sony fans who claimed that a new PS console wouldn't come out until the "10 year plan" was over. I believe those arguments were still even being used by some last year...

The proper way of interpreting the "10 year plan" is not by assuming a new console won't come out, but that the ps3 will still get relevant support for at least 10 years. That doesn't mean that thousands of people hadn't interpreted it the other way. There's proof all over the internet of people claiming such. :P
