I wonder why they would go after the oceans? If I were invaders from earth and had waged war against these people I would just poison the ocean. After all it is the rocks and minerals in the earth that I want, so what does destroying the ocean mean to me? Or just hit the planet with atomic bombs! Technically they did attack and fight back, so we are at war right? No since there are going to be other planets involved maybe the blue people (dont know there names) are going to go there to ask for help? I do not know how long it takes humans to get to this planet though, so maybe  a full scale assault with atom bombs is impractical.

I'm thinking a war won't happen as the government(s) of Earth won't allow it. Remember in the movie the company was trying its best to keep it on the down low as they didn't want stock holders to get negative feedback.

So, I'm thinking this is more of a continuation of small scale ... under handed movement to get the ore without looking like assholes.
