Sony should seriously consider releasing special edition PS3's the same way that Microsoft does.

If the consoles were painted with Uncharted 3 graphics and made special sounds, had bigger hard drives, had a second controller (one painted with drake, the other with Elena) it would be huge. Simply bundling a game with the system is not even close to the same thing.

Microsoft is selling special editions of the xbox for $400!, not to be a troll but.. imagine if those 360's also had blu-ray players built in!

Come on Sony, use your strengths better!

TBH I feel Sony are operating on a view of US console playing demographics that is both way out of date and out of alignment with current trends.  They totally missed how much they needed online and how to provide it, they've missunderstood how to gain traction in the shooter market and they've missunderstood how to market well and use special editions, etc. to boost sales rather than be limited number "specials" for a small group of owners.

Looking at the baseline PS3 sales in US, while I doubt Sony could push them above 360 or anything like that I do believe a better, more effective marketing/sales strategy in Us could easily boost their weekly sales by a fair bit.

@bolded: I'd say this more than anything else. How many times we saw excellent offers and bundles, and even simply excellent games selling less than expected? And how about botched launches, like the LBP one?
