There's an obvious push for the cinematic this gen but it's what last gen games were trying to be (my favorite game from last gen was MGS3). It just depends on where you look. I think games have gotten better, not worse. All it took was a few sessions of Resident Evil (Gamecube), Resident Evil 4, or Metroid Prime to convince me of this.

I feel quite the opposite on this point. I think I have like 57 Gamecube games and 66 PS2 games, while I only have like 28 Wii games and 33 PS3 games (half as many).

I felt that I more enjoyed the large range of titles on the Gamecube and PS2, than I did the smaller range of titles on the Wii and PS3. I also notice that the Wii and PS3 games have a shorter playing time on average, sometimes due to content, but mostly due to lack of difficulty.

There are the few occasional titles on the Wii and PS3 that stand head and shoulders above all games before them, but I can only play those same games for so much time. As such, I have come to be burnt out on a lot of my Wii and PS3 library.

As of late, I have been going back to buying older games (which is a good way to save money on gaming), ironically now attaining an opposite, but good problem; I have become buried by my back log of games I haven't even played (mostly PSP and PS2).

I don't know what next gen gaming holds for me, but as of right now I am putting most (not all) my hopes on the Vita. I hope it goes well for me. :D


I want the Vita as well. I can see a lot of hot JRPG's coming out for it that never touched down on the PS3. Man it's crazy how poor the PS3 JRPG's are this gen and how good the PSP ones are. The Xbox 360 has Lost Odyssey and The Wii has the crowd with Xenoblade and The Last Story. Versus couldn't find a better time to come out.
