They won't be that wrong for 2011, 3DS still has to reach 2m in Japan for the year, and it lacks only three months of data (although they are the most important ones). As for 2012, I don't see it selling less than this year, especially after the announcement of MH4.

3DS will definitely sell more than 2,868,000 for 2011. That's only 900,000 unit to go with a packed Nov and Dec to come. Don't forget that DS sold 600K in a week in Dec 2005 in Japan. I think there is even a possibility that 3DS will reach 2868K when MH3rd G hits.

Dark Soul had a larger first week (279.567 vs 263.398) and higher second week drop (89% vs 79%)... right now it does look like DQ has the "better" leg so far.
|
and I'm not saying overall DQ collection won't outleg it...would be pleasantly surprised if it does BUT keep in mind that DS was soldout at many places (can't remember if the report said 80 or 90% sell through with shortages)
source just failed hard trying to downplay DS...
|
The DQ collection was also sold out at several places as well. In fact, I still see it OOS at some places.
|
in these two weeks? give me a official source and I will believe ya. either way...DS is doing tremendously well :) trying to downplay it is just gonna make anyone real silly.
|
you do know he lives in Japan and goes to store while you are only reading stuff on the net, right? No one is downplaying the success of DS but it doesn't mean that anyone can overblow its success.
|
you do realize the number of shops he can visit as a single person is limited hence why we don't give a crap about anectodal evidence right? there's a reason why we take official reports of tracking agencies etc over forum users.if there have been shortages in these weeks that are affecting DQ legs I would like to see an official source claim it. I won't have a issue acknowleding that then whatsoever. For the record if I wanted anectodal evidence from Japan to use as proof I would have asked my brother.
and secondly it's all too obvious some people ARE trying to downplay its success, so you are wrong there. second how is ANYONE overblowing the success? no one predicted the game to be such a success. everyone is surprised and very happy it has surpassed everyones expectations. heck it has outsold Demon Souls LT in Jp already! so you are wrong there also.

There is no official report of Dark Soul being sold out in the second week which is what you were claiming why the number is low. So if you are saying Source is trying to downplay the success for DS, you are exagerrating its success by saying it's sold out when it was not.
Dark Soul is selling extremely well but the fact is the low number sold for the second week (89% decline form first week) is not a result of no stock in the store.
