This is a big deal despite what anyone says. I think Nintendo probably had something to do with EA's statement or maybe Peter was just sick of the false rumors. He specifically says WiiU is on track which rumors have stated huge issues with the WiiU controller etc..etc.. and patches and that the console will get delayed from the imaginary early 2012 release window.
Fact is Moore shows that EA has made a dedication to Nintendo promising support for the WiiU prior to its release something they failed to do with Wii and DS. He states that EA studios around the world are working on WiiU projects which means we can expect not just one EAGame in the works but multiple titles, likely a lot of them being ports.
Someone pointed out that Moore can't love WiiU since he's going to Japan to learn more about the final product. Fact is the WiiU is evolving it is not finished and final specs are not available to anyone not even developers and publishers outside Nintendo. Moore is probably going to learn a lot about what the final products specs will be when he visits Japan as well as be given a launch window and conduct business with Nintendo's higher ups.
The real thing I am wondering is if EA will be giving Nintendo any kind of real exclusive support, or offer features and upgrades exclusive to the WiiU version of ports. Fact is Microsoft has a policy that states publishers and developers can't release a game on XBox if the PS3 version is noticeably superior. I wonder once WiiU releases if that policy could really harm any games EA is bringing. The best out come I could see happening is an exclusive or two from EA for the launch window of WiiU, based on statements from UbiSoft and other publishers the launch of new hardware is the best time to create new original IP. Wouldn't it be awsome to see an origional new IP come from BioWare for WiiU's launch window (For example) or maybe a different exclusive IP from Visceral Games.
As for what games to expect, EA has actually dropped several hints to one title since E3. At E3 EA suggested a BattleField game for WiiU, many thought instantly of BattleField 3 being ported at a later date. However it has just been hinted that EA is going to create a BattleField Bad Company 3 not being released next year but in the future. Could BattleField Bad Company 3 be the WiiU title EA is talking about?
Of course EASports titles are a given at least until PS4/Nex-Box get released assuming both consoles dwarf WiiU's specs!
