It could be argued that Kinect and Playstation move "failed" as platforms being that they didn't attract any meaningful support and their sales have fallen off (as far as I can tell) because of that ...

Not really, the Wii has over 1250 games released and only saw declining sales after 4 years; and even its reduced sales are very respectable by console standards ...
When you think of them as games or add-ons, Kinect and Move were quite successful but they certainly did not become the platforms to "replace" the Wii that people thought they would be
