EA's support for Nintendo is actually very important.
First of all, look at the sports titles. Most recently, FIFA 2012 released to high sales and 98% of them were not attributed to a Nintendo console. By having an HD system, Wii-U is in position to get the 500k+ sales debuts of Madden & FIFA.
Having a sports userbase that supportive will also have the effect of boosting Take-Two's franchise sales as well (NBA2Ks, NHLs, etc). The Wii Ultra can be the viable place for HD sports games were the Wii was not. Later into a console's life, these yearly iterations help keep the console in consumer focus.
I am going by assumption, but with the mindset of what worked with the last console (Wii), EA may continue at least initially, to produce casual content that may or may not take off in addition to their hit HD games. This is probably the most important Western company to get support from, and Nintendo seems to have it attained.
