If anyone is alienating people, it's Obama. A recent poll showed that a no-named Rep. would win against him if the election was held today. Heck, even some of the Dems in the Senate don't really want to vote/pass his "new" jobs bill. They knows a yes vote on that is most likely going to mean they will be replaced in 2012 unless they are in the darkest of blue states.
