A couple of years ago, I just used Netflix and my PC for all of my entertainment needs. The only reason I got DirecTV (and that $100 a month bill) again was for my fam. With two 360's, maybe I can finally kiss that satellite bill goodbye.....

Watch out for any hidden cancellation fees when/if you get rid of them... DirecTV are a bunch of sneaky underhanded fucks.

We canceled ours in April just as our 2 year contract was set to expire (they automatically renew you, and then charge you an early cancellation fee if you try to get out of the contract early).  Turns out they charged us a $360 (!!!!) cancellation fee because the sneaky bastards AUTOMATICALLY renewed our contract because we replaced an SD receiver with an HD receiver late last year when my folks got a new HDTV for the bedroom.

In the long run though it was cheaper because we got that money back in spades cancelling them and going back to basic cable.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
