This makes it seem like current console owners/gamers are more active this year. MW3 X360 having very big gains. It's looking more and more that it has a good shot of having 2.5 million pre orders if pre orders keep rising at the rate they did for black ops. The shooting genre I would say seems at its highest ever. Battlefield 3 X360 putting up some very impressive pre order numbers for EA. It obviously however is not doing much of anything to take purchases away from Activision's COD title. I think all their bad mouthing of Call of Duty has boosted sales for Call of Duty. Backfire. Skyrim numbers are amazing. I am really looking forward to this! Other big pre order boosts this week coming from Batman AC and Halo CEA. Looks like Halo CEA may possibly beat ODST in pre orders. Im really glad to see Forza 4 at 163K pre orders but I was hoping for more at this point with only 2 weeks left until release. Here is how its doing in comparison with Forza 3. Forza 3 Octber 17th 2010 with 2 weeks left until release: Added 18,364 for a total of 112,406. Forza 4 October 1st 2011 with 2 weeks left until release: Added 12,768 for a total of 163,352. Pretty good numbers but I was hoping it would be more when thinking of how long the Forza brand name has been on the market. Yes, there are more X360s in use now than in October 2009, but it still shows me that the Forza franchise does not seem to be growing much at all from when Forza 3 came out. Or could it be that Racing games just are not as popular anymore? |
Racing games are less popular but the main reason is that Forza just isn't very popular anywhere. The masses only care about GT and NFS.
Forza will probably sell 500K units worldwide. And then bundled like mad, like happened with Forza 3. MS already have a Forza 4 bundle ready for launch and will probably keep selling for a long time.
