There's a new advertising run that says basically two things: 1) it's not a DS; 2) its list price is now lower than DSi XL.
Considering that 3DS HW sales grew, but SW ones fell considerably, while DS SW sales fell very little and are more than thrice as 3DS ones, it looks like the second part of the ad succeeded, while the first part failed again, people buy 3DS HW and DS SW. Then they see the latter runs fine on the former and they feel 3DS is actually just a new DS, the first part of the ad must be obviously wrong. And so point one is caught in a catch-22 of fail. Anyway, 3DS, even if considered just another DS, is now selling well, so nevermind.
