there's honestly too many reasons to list, and sadly none are cited (though I once had a pretty extensive list with links and proof.)

Generally it goes like this: Bobby Kotick says: "We're aiming to take the fun out of making games."

pretty much everything he says and does in the press boils down to the following: "I don't care about innovation or taking risks, we like to milk every franchise dry and we're not interested in making games that don't make us a LOT of money."

he's pretty much the accumulation of EVERYTHING wrong with modern game development. He's the one who said straight out that his company is not willing to take risks, they'd rather keep pumping out Call of Duty and (at one point) Guitar Hero...once they stopped making heaps of money, Activision pulled the plug.

I wish I had the energy to go on, but Seece made the main point: There's no passion, only business. That's a bad thing. Innovation is quashed, and it's only worth their time to make games that they know sell.
