no effect at all. PS3 will sale relatively the same next yr as it has this yr.

PSV is a whole nother product and Sony will market it as such but remember the key focus of PSV is cross platform support/play so PSV and PS3 are one in the same.

the games that don't see cross platform support will be where they differ.

This seems to be the general sensus on this website, thanks for your input.

However do you really think 2012 PS3 sales will be the same as 2011 in Japan? What major software title is there to boost sales?

Too much, FFXIII-2, FF Versus XIII, MGS Rising, The Last Guardian, and they are only titles which I am interested in. I would say Tales of Graces F and Tales of Xillia but they will only be released in the West in 2012.

Seriously, 2012 is looking to be my favourite year of gaming.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII has no set release date and has been in development since, what 2006? No garentee it will release in Japan in 2012. FFXIII-2 is being released before PSV, in 2011, so it doesn't count. Finally I don't think The Last Guardian or MGS Rising will make a big impact in Japan.

As big as MGS Rising and The Last Guardian are, they aren't as big as Tales of Xillia, Graces F, Dark Souls, Disgaea 4, WKC2, and the other JRPG's released in Japan in 2011.
