Kinect isn't really considered a new console. It is a peripheral and no matter what anyone says it is nothing more. Also Kinect is the perfect example of a flop, it sold really well for the first few months but then died. Today Kinect is still selling but its lost its momentum.
Yes it is. Look at my above post, it's a peripheral to current owners, it's a new system to casuals Kinect IS a console to them. And no Kinect isn't a flop, you really don't know anything do you, the thing will explode again this christmas, that's easy enough to predict.
As for Rol's comment about Wii being a slow a steady race. Fact is Wii dominated not only at the beginning but reigned over the whole industry for years. Until last year Wii was still steadily outselling 360 and PS3 on a regular basis.Sure it didn't remain the dominant seller the whole generation, but I'd say it was fairly successful from start to finish.
Of course you would, but you would be wrong. The last few years of its life it will have been beaten by its two nearest rival and pushed into third place, and have hardly any SW come out for it. That isn't successful.
I don't think Nintendo expected any better!

I just don't get your seemingly blind devotion to this Kinect add-on. Yes, I said add-on.
No of course you don't, you never will. Yes it is an add on, its lifespan and the way it sells won't be remotely like an add on though, as I've explained upteem times with proof, the thing was at a 50% bundle ratio over the holiday's, it's selling like a new console to new owners whether you like it or not.
That's because that is what it is. And it can't be considered anything more until MS bundles it with EVERY 360 sold. It definitely can't be considered a console when in America (360 and Kinect's biggest market) VGC shows that Kinect Adventures/Kinect sold only 15,000 units, while the 360 itself sold 75,000 units. That means that ~ 60,000 of the people who bought 360 last week had no interest in picking up the Kinect with it.
Will wait for shipments on that one. I don't believe it's only shipped 1 mill since march, I agree it's slowed down but not that much.
As far as this holiday goes, it seems you think Kinect will repeat, or at least come close to repeating, its success from last year. That is just not going to happen.
Microsoft have designs on being WW #1 this holiday, whether you believe them or not they have a better idea on this thing than you, they also have the plans in front of them on how they expect to get to #1 and it involves kinect more this christmas than last. I do find it funny when PS3 fans on this forum completely ignore all their sentiments, fair enough it's not 100% dead cert, even I don't believe that, but I also don't believe they would be behaving the way they are without good reason, they've had several holidays with the 360, they're not just going to start declaring they're going to be #1 WW on the basis of kinect being down and Gears and Fora pushing it there after wii and PS3 just got cuts. Use your head.
Kinect had a huge help from a large campaign and the fact that it was the new IT electronic device that the public, mostly Americans, ate up. This holiday, it will have none of those things going for it.
Like I said, it's selling like a console, and no console peaks in its first holiday. You don't even know what Microsofts approach is with Kinect this holiday, the fact they're going to push live TV in their adverts will be very new for a lot of people. Exactly how is Kinect different to the 360 or Wii in terms of how it's going to sell hmm? It has its own SW to appeal, it has its own price cuts (whenever they come) and to its target audience it's treated like a console. It isn't 360 for them, it's kinect 360, its why they bought the damn thing.
Sure, they'll adverstise it, but nothing like that initial push.
They've already said they're going to match last holidays push, even more so with the live tv thing.
And it definitely isn't new.
Doesn't fucking matter.
The 3DS will most likely take the crown of the new IT thing to buy the kiddies this year.
WW? Sure. Americas, open to debate.
Thing only thing that will help push Kinect to be close to last year's success is a big price drop for it. Somewhere around $80, plus a $50 cut for the 360 itself.
