We know Sony was forced to stagger PS3 launch also because the BD/HD-DVD format war caused blue laser shortages. But this time there must be another reason behind such a bizarre launch strategy (if launches ouside of Japan will be really delayed).
Maybe Sony thinks in EMEAA it can do better pushing just PS3 for Xmas, while it could also have had unofficial confirmations about MS bold statements that would imply XB360+Kinect overwhelming everything else in America, possibly partially ruining 3DS' Xmas there (I know they don't compete directly as markets, but they compete for people's available money, and even with special offers or true price cuts, Kinect bundles won't be exactly cheap). Very convoluted, yes, but are there simpler explanations?
About MH, again, how much money should Ninty moneyhat Capcom for the exclusive to balance missed profits on PSV? Timed exclusives are more likely, as Capcom will wait for PSV user base to be large enough to grant good sales.
