I'm sure it's a lot faster to use pre-rendered cut scenes. No worries about trying to fit it within available polygon and texture budget, keep the framerate consistent, and make use of limited shaders to imitate the desired special effects in real time.

The fmvs in final fantasy always were something to look forward to, and they were awesome to watch in 1080p on the ps3 version. Now they'll be like every other game? Something you rather want to skip, limited to static or slow moving scenes with few characters on screen, low res textures and blocky shadows.

No towns, no cgi, qte, extremely linear, can they make final fantasy any worse?
