The 3ds storm??? The 3ds had a dismal launch, it had a forced price drop because it was selling so bad. It has an identity crisis and the worst add-on in history that needs an external battery. Like the wii U nintendo do not have a clue what direction they are going in. The 3d is useless and right now the games library is pathetic from 1st party. Monster hunter 4 has not been confirmed as a 3ds exclusive. I dont see why it wouldn't come on the vita anyways.

They have some killer 1st party franchises but still no mention of 90% of them.

The 3DS did not start as expected but his launch was not dismal. By the way it is going, the 3DS will be over 10 millions when the Vita is released everywhere. That will be a huge gap. I don't think a console has been able to fight back such a big gap in the history of gaming.

The DS was still selling well and you know that now with the same price, the 3DS is going to take all of this sales. It is going to sale millions worldwide in december with the massive blockbusters and the appeal.

The games are coming at the end of the year and newt year, the price has dropped, the holidays are coming. Vita will launch just when the 3DS will start to peak and will start doing awesome number.

Monster Hunter 4 will be at least a temporaru exclusive and that will hurt Vita a lot in Japan. PSP was able to survive in Japan based on the fact that they had the exclusivity of the portables versions. Vita does not have even that now.

There's 2 DSes sold per every 1 PSP sold - so if PSV can keep 10 milions diffrence for whole gen it will be a huge sucess ;)

Probably more than that.  I rarely see anyone bust out with a PSP compared to the regular DS.  N/E ways I expect a similar ratio with the 3DS and PSV in this coming handheld generation.  Especially, seeing the PSV is not mass market price!

You do realize the PSV is launching at the same price as the PSP, right?  If anything, going by price the ratio should be less.  It's an $80 difference this time, compared to a $100 difference last time.

Yes, I do realize that; however it's a diffrent time and diffrent market from when the DS and the PSP launched.  Handheld gaming now has smartphones and tablets that offer similar if not superior gaming hardware capabilities along with other multitude of functions to compete with the 3DS and Vita.  To be quite honest, Nintendo made a wise move to drop the 3DS to a mainstream price before the release of the iPhone5 to establish a healthy (~5 mil) userbase.  I don't think Vita will do quite well seeing that it will launch shortly after Apple's big product and a revitalized 3DS.  In fact, the 3DS may well have over 8 mil hardware sold the day Vita launches in Japan and 10 mil worldwide as it launches everywhere else.
