remeber big hits come out of nowhere (DOA, Final fantasy, and COD which before this gen only sold a modest 2m units ww) as do hits that become failure(rock band /guitar hero)so having system selles is not key to vitas success, but having IP that could likely be killer APPS is.

you make it sound like it's easy to have a big hit coming out of nowhere. (and DOA is not a big hit at all).

Also, having a system seller is definitely key to any system success. An IP could likely be killer APPS is good and might turn into a system seller. However, there is no guarantee all killer APPS will sell hardware.

I think the Vita will just be fine. Sony pushed the PSP to a modest success, I see no reason the Vita will not do well ...as well.

The main problem with Vita right now at the current state is that Japan was PSP's strongest region but Vita has no major Japanese games for launch. That's not to say Vita will not do better in other regions but it's always a big risk when you lose the grip on your strongest region.

considering PSV's external battery add's more life to the device which can mean an add's 10 hr's of battery life for a total of 15 hr's, the games are more innovative, the hype is unmatched, everybody around me only talks about PSV, PSV isn't region lock'd meaning you can buy games that are released only in Japan for Vita by down load or port the games and they'll still play cause Vita is not region lock'd, Vita allows for apps, more then 80 games will be released during the launch window then any other console whether it be home console or portable in history! i'd say Vita will do just fine.

more news comes in every day about Vita even after TGS so i'm not worried as both devices will do just fine.

I thought that was a mis-translation. Those games are not for launch window and the time frame is unknow.

Vita still has few things going for it:

- best launch lineup in years
- great graphics with oled screen
- social connectivity
- cross gaming with PS3 and trophy support
- positive first impression

This should be enough to build serious userbase in initial months and after that it will depend on software library as it seems 3DS will be getting another software drought after Christmans is over

Based on all the announced games for 2012, 3DS will have consistent flow of games until next Christmas. I'm not sure where you got the software drought idea from.

*edit* One thing to keep in mind about Call of Duty is that the main draw is the online.  The PSV will support online and 3G but lets be real.  There is no way 3G is going to be able to support the CoD online experience.  People are going to have to have access to Wi FI to play Call of Duty in some way that resembles the home version.  Maybe a quick session at McDonalds or Starbucks or Books a Million or something?  But even then, you'll have to contend with people dropping out at inopportune times.  It's the nature of handheld gaming.  Or, people can just play at home where they have full access to online all of the time.  But if they're playing at home on their Wi Fi then why are they playing their portable?

This is also what confuses me when people keep saying COD with 3G will be huge. first, you have to have a stable 3G connection. Even then, I don't understand why it would be so urgent to play COD online on the go like in a coffee shop or McDonalds. So I have 20 min to kille and it's so better that I can jump into COD online now with Vita?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
