why is the ps2 still selling a lot of consoles? because of its casual userbase
hardcore wanna upgrade to the latest and greatest every 5 years or so, but casuals don't do that
since the wii will have a LARGER proportion of casuals than ps2, an argument can easily be made that wii will have MORE longevity
and casuals don't care about another AAA title coming out every 3 months...they are fine with the mini-games, the puzzle games, the semi-games (nintendogs, endless ocean, etc), ....
