I think the future of Monster Hunter on Vita will be determined entirely by two things!
#1. The sales performance of MH3G on 3DS, if the game sells very well on 3DS then expect their to be a very good chance MH4 comes to 3DS and is not cancelled or ported.
#2. The sales and performance of Vita in Japan. Monster Hunter accounted for over half of the top 50 software sales for PSP in Japan. If Vita doesn't have huge success in Japan , Capcom will not support Sony.
So there you go its up to Sony and Nintendo. if Nintendo can prove to Capcom that they stand to make a ton of profit on 3DS , then Capcom will stick with Nintendo. If Sony can prove to Capcom that the Vita is both a viable and successful platform in Japan then Capcom will likely support Vita.
If both consoles (Vita and 3DS) are successful in Japan. then I expect Capcom to bring a version of Monster Hunter to Vita. I think Sony is right in the fact that Monster Hunters future is very uncertain. Its Nintendo's chance to prove themselves, but if Sony can prove Vita is a successful platform in Japan they stand to possibly win over some support!
