Very untrue.
they are breaking even on the 40 gig now and making a profit on the 80 gig. if they cut the dev cost by 400 dollars (from making each one at 800) in the 1st year which is the hardest year to cut the cost of anything, then when the system is 2 years old the cost WILL (not should) drop more. weather we see it on the customers end is the question and if you think sony after winning blu-ray and what not is broke and connot cut the price again you are very wrong. i expect TWO price cuts this year 1 in may and another in november unless ps3 start selling like wii then they will keep the price.
Sony wants mass market price for 2 reasons Blu-ray and ps3 games to sell and they want it beofre microsft who was only able the cost cut thier machine in 2 years less then sony was able to do in 1 year
