ehm.. not that I do this stuff but i used to help a mate in his phoneshop so:
1 Physical. Phones, computers break down, sending them to repear service is what most people do... what most repair people do is check some stuff out if everything works.. you wouldn't believe what kind off photos people have on their phone.. there was a sex scandal in Hong Kong with Edison Chen where this happend..
2. Spyware & phones.. you can get spyware through bluetooth or email attachments on your phone.. this is hard to get done.. but not impossible with Android, blackberrys and android phones..
3. Spyware & Backup files.. most modern phones created backups on computers.. since spyware on computers is much easier to install then on phones people then get acces to the backup files.
