I dont think putting the original Mario Bros. on IOS is going to deter anyone from buying a 3DS, i dont think people are buying 3DS for playing old games they already have. I can see the point of competing against VC, but just about everyone has a smart phone, alot more than people have 3DS or will have 3DS, that is a huge market that they could tap into im they wanted. IMHO

At the very least, putting SMB on iOS is one less reason to buy a 3DS. Now add classic after classic and the 3DS starts to lose value. Nobody buys a new handheld to only play old games, but a purchase is the sum of many considerations, most notably "which games will I be able to play". An exclusive library of classics can be the deciding factor and once people bought the hardware, they usually buy games too.

So on one hand you have a couple of $ for an individual game sale on iOS and on the other hand you have the sale of 3DS hardware, 3DS software, DS software and Virtual Console titles. Which option should Nintendo aim for?

considering the amount of people that have smart phones versus those who have 3ds?? i say why not aim for both??
