Think of it this way: if they're trying new things for the series' appeal, that'll make localization more likely 
I don't quite like the idea of a world map, though it could work out well if they made it into a "grand strategy" sort of thing, where maybe you'll have to pick and choose which places to attack or defend and see the story effected by those choices
Double battles would work out well for bosses, instead of having to pile in one at a time...
