I live in Winchester, Hampshire in the United Kingdom.
This city was once the capital of Wessex and then England. Our Cathedral has the longest nave of any Norman construction. We used to have a large castle, but that was pulled down following the civil war (Winchester was on the side of the King, who lost). This city's Cathedral was one of the only historic sights in the South that wasn't heavily bombed during the 2nd World War, which according to a local legend is due to the fact that Hitler wished to be 'crowned' in both Westminster Abbey and Winchester Cathedral, in the way William I was in 1066, the last successful invasion of the British Isles (as it is a local legend, there is probably very little truth in this). In 2006, the city was named the best place to live in the U.K. There is not much else to say, really.
