Fanboyism is bigger now that it used to be. Before, during the PS1 and PS2 era, people generally accepeted Sony is better, but N64 really had some fun multiplayer games, and some of the greatests exclusives. Same with the SNES era with SNES being accepted as better. This gen marks the first gen where people conflict in opinion. It only makes it worse that PS3 and 360 sell about equally well. dito but before VGC i had no idea it was this bad. if anybody had approached me and asked me which one was better during the PS2 era i would have said you better get the fuck out my face with that shit lol.
so many gens i've missed out on but i was there and didn't know. its better to be well informed then not know anything, and not knowing pisses me off.
To be honest, I'm still learning about gaming. I played Chrono Trigger during the 6th gen, not the 4th, and it's my favorite game. I didn't miss many great Nintendo games just because I was so hardcore, and I retroactivly bought all the good X-Box games, but Sony man.... I'm missing a lot of great sony games. I think at the end of the 7th gen I became compitent about games, and I knew what I wanted. So at this point I knew exactly what PS2 games I was missing out on, niche or mainstream, and I knew what PS1 games I missed, along with Sega Saturn, but now PS3 has flourished much better then I expected. So it leads me to believe to just stick with Sony. However get a Nintendo every other gen because they tend to make their systems BC to 1 gen at least, and get a 360 when it's cheap (assuming that make a cheap model). yea my 360 died. well i didn't own it but it was in my house so it was mine. i'm just learning wht i missed out on and will continue to learn for some time to come. well Sony said the games are coming! (while showing up at E3 with nothing for 2 yrs straight lol)
I think Internet has helped out in our knowledge of upcoming games and quality. Before the 6th gen, websites like IGN were just forming, and forums weren't big yet. Now look how much help they provide. It may not just be us being kids, it may be us having more access to information, and demos being available without rentals. dito. yea the timmy has help'd me out alot this gen. i've even gotten lazy waiting for others to post the info. last yr i was so much more active on the site. when i get things staright i'll get back to it.
Sony did start off stupid this gen, I agree, but it's not just because Sony thought they had this gen in the bag. Sony makes most of its money selling Blu-Ray players (or DVD's and CD's back in the day). They make royalties off every system sold, and royalties off every movie sold. They put Blu-Ray in PS3 prematurely. When PS1 and PS2 had CD and DVD disk systems, they were already big. Blue Ray hadn't even won the platform war when they put in on a PS3. It was also very expensive. agreed. next gen should be pure profit for Sony. i heard something about a 16 or 32 core proccessor which sounds expensive and not needed. i think PS3 has been max'd out RAM wise for at lest 2 yrs now but theres still power in that Harley lol.
Sony did this because PS3 does help in Blu-Ray sales, and selling a DVD PS3 when they have Blu-Ray shows that they don't even support Blu-Ray. So it was a buisness decision, which helped them in the movie industry, but hurt them in the gaming industry. There is no Blu-Ray replacement yet, but in 10 years (so 9th gen) there will be. So I don't think the PS4 will cost anywhere nearly as much out of the gate, Sony may start strong again. agreed. they'll have more focus with games mainly at launch which is something else i think they lern'd i think we'll likely see key IP start off the 8th gen then we'll see a heavyer focus on new IP from Sony. Bluray is awsume. i heard Blu-ray has gotten more space on it?
PS3 cost likely about $199 or maybe less to make right now so in 2013 PS4 shouldn't cost no more then $299 to make while being sold at $350 if that. it seems the main focus for dev's is higher RAM (8G) so if thats acheived $299 will likely be the starting price with maybe 200G hardrive.
I agree, Sony really developed their first party studios this generation. Next gen, they might be able to make some real awesome AAA 10 million selling games. If sony losses MGS exclusivity that may still hurt them, but Sony can hold their own now, and I think in the future, all console makers will have to do this too. dito. MGS will be multiplatform next gen theres no doubt in my mind about that but GEARS(may not be 4. could be called something else)is the coin that flips. hey EPIC did say GEARS would work great on vita?
Also I think I agree PS3 is better then 360, just not for me. Like I said I don't care for half the PS3 exclusives (platformers, action adventure, etc), so that alone is enough for me to like 360 more. Also, living in Canada, where 360 is more popular then PS3, used games drop much faster on 360. Except for Call of Duty, by the time a 360 game drops to $20, the PS3 version is still $30 or more. I mean I bought Dead Space 2 for $30 when it was still $50 on PS3, and this rule is especially true for timed 360 releases. thats strange but thats Canada. i'm thinking about dual citizenship cause American politicians have no since and don't know the meaning of change but thats another topic altogether. it seems PS3 games become cheaper here in the city of Alexandria and state of Louisiana, but thats just from my experiance. Canada always gets over looked.
and we agree about Gears, good. We actually agree on a lot of things. more then you'd think i'm sure.
did you figure out wht other PC i gamed on?
