I have two friends who met girls over the internet. Both turned out to be nut jobs later.

One girl scammed about €2000 off one guy, about 4 months after they started going out. Turns out she was actually targeting guys online around her own age (early to mid twenties) starting relationships with them, and once things settled and became secure, she would find a way to get money off them, then simply disappear. He didn't even report it because he was so embarrassed, we only got the full story out of him months later.

The other was a girl who turned out to have major issues that weren't apparent over Skype. A bizarre list of phobias, anxiety, depression, paranoia but to touch the tip of the iceberg. Also a stage 5 clinger, who wouldn't stop harassing him after he got rid of her.

I'm well aware this doesn't really relate to your story, but there are some extremely odd individuals out there, and the internet is the perfect place to find them, or for them to find you.

My advice: Go out to a club and pull a girl who A: You know is a girl. and B: Most likely wont be into farts.

Finding girls on the internet is just like shopping on eBay, sure it looks good in the picture, but without a feedback % You have no idea what you're getting.
