Also why has MHG sold lot less than MH tri in Japan?

I think its because it was port of the same game that was on PS2 which sold less than the Wii version as well

I take it they prefer new games over ports.

Not sure but I think a few (if not all) of the PSP games got extended versions and they still sold over a million or two
