Some people have asked how Nintendo could forget to add a second circle pad when designing the hardware. The answer is pretty obvious: Because Nintendo's own games don't require a second one.

Not entirely correct. Gamecube and Wii both had a 2nd analog stick in a non-ordinary way and they are both use a lot in Nintendo games.

Metroid prime uses the yellow nub as well as pointer as a 2nd analog as does Zelda and other related games where 2nd stick is commonly utilized.

I think Nintendo many times has focused on being too unique instead of simply utilizing something that has proven to be a good design. While the GC controller probably should have been more dual analog, I can understand and appreciate why Wii is not. In fact, I prefer Wiimote+nunchuk over any dual analog controller.

However, in the case of their portable... they f'ed it up bad and it was not due to 3D as you like to always slam.

1) They killed the battery life which was always a big plus on previous handhelds.

2) They lacked foresight in not adding a 2nd analog nub.

You always like to show that Nintendo shouldn't worry about 3rd parties, however, their greatest consoles of all time had almost exclusive 3rd party support (NES, SNES, all gameboys and DS). Wii is the first time where they were highly successful as an overall company and lacked 3rd party support.

That business model is not sustainable. They need 3rd parties large ports and other projects.

To do this they need to show their uniqueness without completely ignoring the needs of 3rd parties as these companies tighten down development and want a more common set of parameters to help with the inevitable requirement of games being ported across many platforms. To do this you can't completely remove the common baselines such as similar power as well as comparable controls.

In Wii, its controls were comparable as you could map a dual analog game to the wiimote+nunchuk setup.

However in 3DS as compared to other consoles and Vita, it had a sever loss of needed buttons. The 2nd shoulders could be left out... but not a 2nd analog too.

Nintendo started off well with a uniquely Nintendo experience changer in offering quality and easy to use 3D. However, they should have made it slightly larger to accommodate a bigger battery and 2nd analog along with a more mass consumer launch price of $199. Doing that woudl have already dramatically given better launch numbers, however, the games coming later this year would have only sealed its fate of market leader again.

You're absolutely right with everything bro.

Even Luigi' s Mansion 1 on Gamecube used the c stick to control Luigi's flashlight.
