Buying new stuios would be great for us but on business terms won't much for them right now.
The Wii and DS have managed to succeed thanks to expanded market games and stronghold classic IPs. This means they are serving mainly 2 kinds of customers, Nintendo loyal costumers and the expanded market.
Now, creating new succesful expanded market IP does not require the work of a first class dev studio, it's more a matter of discovering the hidden demand for a product that hasn't yet been made.
The loyal customer base would for sure be pleased since a new studio would probably mean 1 more good game every 2 or 3 years, but would that change anything to PS and XBOX users? I don't think so, it wouldn't be enough to expand the loyal fanbase.
On the other hand aquiring a new studio would mean increasing operating costs on stable basis, that means it's a risk in the case Nintendo's next-gen consoles woun't be succesful enough.
What Nintendo needs to do right now is to expand their loyal userbase, stealing marketshares from its competitors and to do that they need to do the following things.
1 & 2.)Bring back 3rd party support and fix their online service.
3.) Give some more multimedia features on WiiU or else the console should be VERY cheap, because the non-loyal customer can evenly think "Why should I pay X for games, when for the same price I can have games, movies and music?"
If Nintendo manage to have good 3rd party support, the pressure for releasing at least no.Y games at year would subside, and the actual teams could afford to produce a smaller number of better games.
Only after they achieve those objectives they should think of expanding. Naturally all of this is my personal opinion.
Nintendo should also try to enstablish at least a portion of the expanded market, but that's not an easy task expecially they'll need the right mix of software and communication to let the expanded market perceive the value of the new hardware.
