Nintendo will not release a redesigned 3DS without 3D, and they will not change the name.
They WILL release a redesign, albeit when remains to be seen, certainly not in 2011 anymore now that the system's finally picking up huge amounts of steam, and with the holiday season and a slew of big games coming up. A 2nd circle pad might definitely be a possibility in this eventual redesign.
