My honest opinion is that this game, much like Monster Hunter Tri, is going to have subscription fees in Japan only. I think the games and compaines are in very similar situations and I would nt be surprised at all if SquareEnix saw what Nintendo did with Monster Hunter Tri and said, "we want a deal very similar to what you did for Capcom" and the business side was worked on in that manner.
As far as paying myself, after playing Monster Hunter Tri online for around 8 billion hours, I would say that if the game has the same kind of addicitve qualities, I have the same addicitve personalities and by letting me start off online to, "taste" the game, I can see myself paying a subscription fee. When Monster Hunter Tri was about to be released, I was very hard pressed about not having to pay a fee but the game was so worth it, paying a fee would have actually been justified in my opinion.
I felt the same about Everquest unitl I started to really get into it, then I felt the subscription fee was worth the price of admission. A game can win me over, and exceptions can be made, but I am still mostly against online subscription fees. Especially anything to do with FPS games.
My interest in this game is not nearly as high as I wanted it to be though. It looks ok and I will probably get it but it does not look Monster Hunter Tri good or anything like that. Not yet.
