Please don't get mortally offended at these guys as it's just my opinion:

The Parent Trap - I think it's easier for some to relate to than the original, plus it was cast very well

Phantom Of The Opera - Seen 2 earlier films and neither engage me the way the 2004 release did although this debatable as the film is very decisive and does have it's flaws. I'm actually pretty sure that many people could find one of the many remakes better than the original as there has been many.

Romeo And Juliet - I loved the style of the remake starring DiCaprio, actually made the story more engaging for a modern audience while also not butchering Shakespears dialogue to much.

Hairspray - Almost flawless adaptaion of the stage show to film to top the original

Evil Dead 2 > Evil Dead 1 - You guys can argue which you preferred more, I personally enjoyed the humour of the remake more than the horror of the first

Lord Of The Rings - Not really a fair fight as Peter Jackson got the budget nobody ever had previously

Thirteen Ghosts - The original isn't scary as you can barely see the ghosts at times, I have no doubt I would probably enjoy the original more if I'd seen it upon release rather than the degraded mess on the small screen. The remake wasn't breaking new ground in the scares department but it is truly one of the most beautiful visually styled sets in horror, the house is amazing.

The Italian Job - Nah, just kidding lol
