Uh, yea it is. The vast majority of its citizens are Christian, so therefore it is a Christian nation. Of course, we allow any to come here and practice whatever faith they want without prejudice, as it should be. And don't even bring up maybe using a few thousand to transport this structure that brought hope to many, when we have a govt that wastes billions every year. And not having it there because a very small minority don't believe in it would be the true offense against freedom of religion. |
No, that doesn't make the US a Christian nation. In order for the US to be a 'Christian nation', Christianity would have to be the official state religion of the US, Christianity would have to be in control of all institutions and the US laws would have to be based in Christianity. The US has no official state religion (something which is forbidden by your constitution), the state institutions are secular, and the Constitution is based on common law and influence from European philosophers. If the US were a Christian nation, then it would to be similar to Saudi Arabia, which is an Islamic nation: Islam is the official religion, every institution and every aspect of life is controlled by Islam, Sharia law is instated (which is based directly on the Quran and Sunnah). The only country in the world that can be described as a 'Christian nation' is the Vatican (which isn't even a real state).
