Myth - American Developers are much more creative than Japanese developers.
Reality: Call of Duty 1 and Call of Duty 9 (or whatever they're on) vs. Super Mario Bros 1 and Super Mario Galaxy.

In fact, Blizzard is about the only developer in North America who has really taken a franchise (Warcraft) and successfully evolved it into something different and successful. Most Japanese gaming series have seen incredeible evolution over the years.
