In addition to what others have said, adjustments are also made weekly to try and get even more accurate numbers :) And from some of the tracking done by members, ps3 has been adjusted down quite a bit over the weeks, other consoles too but to a lesser extent (not terribly sure about this).

Anyways dissapointed with 3ds numbers i wanted it to stay around the 300k mark :( Hopefully it wont fall to low in the following weeks and stay atleast around the 250k mark which falls in line with my predictions :)

I guess the real reason was PS3 just outsold 360 by 10-20k per week... at this rate was needed 7-8 weeks (almost 2 months) to change from .2m to .3m... so inthe last three/four months PS3 closed the GAP from 3.4m to 3.2m.

Nos the GAP is decreasing a lot faster... 50-80k per week.
