Hey, I've been curious about this topic lately and I am wondering what people feel. The Japanese gaming industry is migrating over to handhelds quite rapidly. PSP and 3DS typically sell between 30-50k weekly there, and before the 3DS launched, DS was selling about the same too. PS3 still sells relativly well at 20-25k weekly, but Wii isn't doing so well, even with the price cut, and strong software support.
So I'm just wondering, if PSV can handle graphics almost to the level of PS3, will people still buy PS3's in Japan? I can easily see the PSV getting a lot of Japanese support, so I know it will do well, just wondering your opinion.
If PSV does cut PS3 sales, by how much will it cut them? For reference DS went from 30k weekly down to 8k weekly (nearly a 75% cut) when 3DS got it's price cut recently.
I feel PS3 sales will get cut by 50%, but in 2012, PS3 sales will likely be 20% weaker as well too. So I think PS3 sales for 2012 will be in the 8-12k range. Your thoughts?
