Cogs are the soldiers we play in gears of war. They have a Cog tag on them to identify themselves as a Cog soldier, and collecting Cog tags mean collecting dead soldiers' identities. Meaning proof of death.

lol no. This is different, I was talking about Cog tags in the game. This is Cog codes on the internet. I am assuming this is some kind of marketing tactic where you can find hidden codes like the ones in OP, in articles, forums etc. I am not sure about that.
