I would say that it would just help the sales so they don't decline quite as fast. Will it lead to a sales spike? No. The demand simply isn't as high for them anymore.
In regards to when it will drop, there really is absolutely no reason to hurry. The next cheapest console is $199. I don't really see somebody who wants a Wii to consider a 360 Arcade anyways, they are just plain different.
If they drop their prices by next year, all they are doing is losing themselves a shitload of profit they could have. Which, based on the way Nintendo has been running their company in the very recent past, they may very well do this then.
Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.
