They arent THAT far behind when you just consider Europe. But yes I think he is talking about a long term aim rather than an immediate goal. Whose to say the nextbox wont win in Europe. I wouldnt bet against it thats for sure.

Well, Europe incl UK, is responsible for about half of the overall EMEAA lead PS3 has over 360. So it's still a substantial lead. And it's a bit old news but don't forget PS3 has been selling for a year less than 360. With equal time on market even in the UK the PS3 would come damn close to evening up the score.

I would certainly bet against nextbox being number 1 in Europe, especially given Wii U is going to have a year or more head start. However, I wouldn't make it a big bet, and I wouldn't put the odds too heavily against nextbox. 60/40 against I'd say. PS3 I'd say 55/45 against. Wii U I'd say 60/40 in favour. They all have a good shot at being number 1. But nextbox is the underdog.

Interesting what they're saying about Kinect. It's stark how different Kinect is performing in Europe compared to the Americas. Number 7 in the Americas this week. Not in the top 40 in Europe. It's definitely spin when talking about the success of Kinect driving sales growth in a Europe context. Because it ain't. In Americas he is totally right Kinect is really keeping 360 sales bouyant, amazingly so IMO.

As to price cut. I think MS are playing a wait and see game. But I think they will see the bottom drop out of 360 sales in Europe. And that will force a price cut on them. In the markets where 360 is strong it'll sustain sales. But elsewhere it'll go down hill. So unless they are happy to remain with good sales in only a few select markets and potentially poor sales in the rest a price cut will be essential by November. They won't have YoY growth without a price cut. Not now.
