That is probably the biggest issue with the series. I'm curious as to how DMC 3 managed to be so good despite it. Though the original DMC was good 3 had more than enough content and variety to supplant it for me. Even more so if you include DMC3SE. I wish I had the faith in Ninja Theory you have...To me it looks like a much slower paced version of DMC3 that requires less skill. It seems like they took too much inspiration from the half rate DMC clone GOW. I don't wanna lose my tough as nails arcade action because they have a penchant for cinematics and such. I hope its early and that my reaction is a knee jerk thing but playing a bit of Heavanly Sword I don't have faith that Ninja Theory really know how to do balls to the wall arcade action. There had better be a Style meter too. It adds so much to the game to force you constantly vary your offense. It's omission I feel would be a detriment to the values of the series. |
To be honest, i dont think this is the right game for Ninja Theory. personally i would have rather had NT go on to make Enslaved 2 or something else, and Capcom outsource DMC to Platinum Games.
however i'm willing to give them a chance because they have demonstrated they can make good games, okay both those games had their problems. and Capcom is overseeing the game so i dont think the combat will deviate far from what was seen in the other DMC games. a lot of what we saw in this trailer was i think similar to DMCs fast, stylish combat.
i think they have mentioned the style meter will be back, i'm not sure if it will be implemented in exactly the same way. but it seems to me this game will be more about the other things going on outside of combat, like the story, the changing worlds, things like that. so i'm not sure what to think until it comes out. based on what we've seen it looks like you are encouraged to constantly change your method of attack. and we can see mid-combo weapon changes in the trailer to facilitate that. so far it looks like DMC in that sense. and i like this whip device, which seems to make movement from enemy to enemy seemless. unlike the cluncky Devil Bringer (Nero's arm).
based on what we've seen i'm interested in getting it because it looks more interesting than say if Capcom had made DMC5 on their own, about Nero and Krille. and i feel the combat looks pretty good so far, so i'll wait and see.
