Interesting fact. Ken presided over a playstation division that launched a product (the PS3) that completely wiped out ALL profits made from PS1 and PS2. In other words they hadn't banked a single dollar in profit over the course of the existance of playstation when he left... thats incredible given their success. So yeah, great businessman. |
yeah but he was not the main reasoning for $2b hole,blu-ray was and SONY as a company was behind it so he could not do anything.
how did it completely wiped out all profit and why do you subject PS3 losses to the PS division as they are going to be paid by the BLU-RAY division of the company
you don't know what profits PS made, where they went and what they are making right now.how they are gonna be made
PS has made ton more money than showed, its just that SONY keeps reinvesting a whole ton of it.it isn't like a business which earn money that just gets eaten up by investors as that would be fatal to the company in the long term.
if you look at the finances starting PS3 launch,SONY lost around $7billion(this is the max limit,it is lower but i am giving some space).Out of this around 5 billion has been recouped by PS2,PSP,PS3 software sales and hardware.but alot of it has also been reinvested constanly in to R&D
you won't see the $7b mark as sony financial charts immediately cut it as profit reduces loss.
SONY is left with around 2.5billion loss.Which is further reduced by BLU-RAY sales.
this is the reason SONY combined all the division as it was no longer a separate division company as it was helping the other divsions of the comapny.
in the long term from 2006 launch which is now short term,SONY is easily profiting and future is safe.
