Of course we could. But that doesn't mean we could win.
If an alien race capable of interstellar or even intergalactic travel were to attack us, we'd be very much screwed. Many other seemingly futuristic technologies seem to be coming true, maybe even during my lifetime. However, space travel doesn't seem to be happening any time soon, which leads me to believe that advanced space travel requires some very advanced technology, so if an alien race were to attack us, they'd probably have weapons far more powerful than what we have now or even in a hundred years. I don't see how we could possibly stand a chance.
