I feel this way to but I figured out what was wrong. The japanese presence on consoles have died down considerable to me. Im a huge JRPG fan and their existence on consoles has been really flat. FFXIII was a disappointment to me and now that my 60GB died I can't even enjoy going back to play some of my PS2 RPGs. The last game I invested hours into was inFamous 2. Im slowly playing BioShock 2 and while it's good I don't find myself investing hours into it. I think you just need something fresh. If you have an XBOX 360 you should check out Tales of Vesperia, it's an excellent game, very unique.

It shouldn't be that hard to find, eBay is your friend for this one.

I bet you it's even harder in the UK, I paid £60 ($100) and that is considered a bargain.

But after the XBL Games on Demand release it has dropped in price.
