I want the production values of DKC without the associated gimmicks, and without losing the superior controls of NSMBW. I think DKCR had 75 levels or more. It jumped it up to Mario level of levels. In 3D, I don't even think we need Banjo sized worlds. I want more stuff to do and objects to interact with in a smaller area. The lava level in Mario 64 really took it to the extreme with tiny little objects floating all around the lava, plus you could reach any of the stars in the main area by flying or koopa-boarding around the "proper" route. That's what I want. The Bob-omb level, the lava level, either snow level, the toxic cave level, the raising and lowering the water level level... this is my ideal for 3D Mario. |
I agree with this and might I add that Mario 64 did not hold your hand and lead you directly to the stars like the Galaxy games. SMG 2 tried with the green stars but that felt like lazy design because you had to tread the same ground.
