Skip to 3:50. Shooting may be the dominant form of combat, but melee seems to be just as effective. I assume some enemies will require a combination of shooting and melee attacks to be taken out. I also expect various weapons and some of them to excel in one of the two areas.

Of course, I don't know for sure, but I don't think it's going to be a TPS in the strict sense.

but melee is part of most tps tho :S ..I dunno maybe it's games like UC mixing up elements that's confusing me here. but yeah more gameplay vids that are sure to pop up in the future should help clarify things
