Any of you ever buy anything from Good Old Games? I bought a couple last night, some of them are really cheap! The big minus for me was slow downloads, took me a good two hours to download a couple of gigabyte, that's not good enough if you make a living selling games in digital form imo.

I bought Empire Earth from them, and my friend has encouraged me to get Alpha Centurai, but I just favour steam due to the way that you have the desktop client making it easier to organise everything

And I have been very good with Steam, I did buy the GTA pack for like £5 and haven't got around to playing them yet... and Deus Ex where I can't really get through the first level... I might just leave my Deus Ex experience for Human Revolution (which I have pre-ordered for 360)

Alpha Centauri is a pretty sweet game that switches up the civilization paradigm a lot.  Does GOG have Alien Crossfire yet though, because i thought that was when Alpha Centauri got real good, the expansion.

As for not being able to get through the first level of Deus Ex, do you mean the real first level or the tutorial?  Cause i could never do the tutorial.  The rest it's a matter of being decent at the stealth stuff for the first few levels even if you plan to go all guns, just to build up your gunning ability while still keeping other good abilties

I haven't actually looked, I have far too great a back log of games at the moment

I just got through the tutorial. But to be fair, I have only tried the Liberty Island level once and I forgot to save, but I did think I was doing quite well. But as I am a console gamer, I just feel lost on PCs and assume auto saves, but the main issue was that I did not have my external mouse, which made things doubly hard

You need that external mouse for sure... Additionally, in the beginning, your hitbox is very poor on account of JC's low skills. This improves a lot over time and the whole implant system is really cool and makes for a pretty unique FPS experience! Also, the story and overall gameplay makes this a gem well worth playing through. Give it another shot, you'll be enthralled in no time!

I think I will, I will just make quadrouply sure to save! I have heard so many good things about this game, I really must play it, though I think I might have to play KOTOR first
